The structure becomes weak after providing service for many years reason for the structure weaken are many

But for Proper use of any structure, its maintenance and repair is necessary.

Among one of the important work is terrace water proofing …..

Because water penetration always weaken the any structure

Let’s take the dive to understand the different method for terrace water proofing

In our present era, numerous techniques have been developed for waterproofing, encompassing both traditional and modern methods.

Some techniques have stood the test of time and remain popular among people. They have proven their effectiveness

Now different method for terrace water proofing is

First method is Brickbat coba

Under this the brick bat Coba materials are laid on the flat roof surface at the thickness of 75mm to 150mm with the cement mortar mix of waterproofing chemicals at the proper slope

There are some Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages is

First it is old waterproofing method.

Second it is time tested & old trusted method

Third Masonry brick wastages can be utilized for the waterproofing

And the main disadvantage of brickbat Coba is the dead load. It increases the dead weight of the structure

Second method App membrane water proofing

APP stands for Atactic Polypropylene. APP membrane is the most commonly used waterproofing material on concrete roofs and low-slope roofs. APP membrane is applied with a torch or with other method also

APP membrane is a durable waterproofing material largely preferred by contractors for safeguarding surfaces against leakage

Now in modern days this the highly applicable method of water proofing

Third method is chemical based water proofing

Waterproofing chemicals provide a protective barrier that prevents water penetration into the terrace surface

Chemical based water proofing is one of widely used & applicable method in the market

And it is recommended by expert and contractors

Chemicals create a hydrophobic layer that prevents it from seeping from the terrace slab there is n number of water proofing chemical available in market

Fourth method is Injection grouting

Under this method chemical based material are inject to filling the cracks, open joints, voids, or honeycombs in concrete or masonry structural members

To inject the grouting material grouting pressure machine are used to penetrate material in the crack of terrace slab

There are many ready grout material are available in the market

Final method is crack sealing

As the name suggest cracks sealing

Crack are sealed which was developed over the terrace

First to identified the cracks and open with grinder in v-groove shape and seal with again chemical based crack sealing putty in desired way
